Print buying guide
Limited edition prints are signed and numbered on the front and a Certificate of Authenticity is provided. Editions are limited as described on the image details. Artists Proofs are limited and held privately. If dated, the date refers to the date the image was taken and not of the print.
I consider it to be very important to choose the correct paper to suit the style of work and am mindful of how the choice emphasises and complements the subject and emotion. All work is printed professionally on fine art papers approved by the Fine Art Trade Guild manufactured by Hahnemühle or Fotospeed.
Sizes vary, as detailed, and take into account tolerances of the image and affect, however, should you prefer a different size please contact us.
All measurements given are approximate and are of the actual image size. An additional border of between 1.0 – 5cm is also included.
Photographs are commonplace in every household and it is easy to forget that they are inherently fragile and easily damaged. The following good practice guidelines are for general information only. Further information can be found on the internet or through professional advice but here is a useful leaflet with further information: https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documents/archivesconservation_photo.pdf
Some Good Practice for Preserving Your Photographs
• Handle photographs with clean hands and avoid touching the image layer.
• Support photographs carefully with both hands or, especially for larger photographs, slide a piece of paper or card underneath to act as a carrier.
• Keep food and drink away from photographs.
• Avoid marking photographs with ink.
• Avoid the temptation to clean photographs.
• Photographic materials benefit from a cool, dry, well-ventilated storage environment.
• Protect photographs from dust and light and provide physical support during use.
• Check stored photographs from time to time to make sure that they are free of dust, dirt and insects.
• You will extend the life of your photograph by reducing exposure to light. If framing use ultraviolet filtering glass to help protect photographs during light exposure.
• When mounting original photographs it is preferable to use 100% cotton fibre, ‘unbuffered’ mount boards. Ask your framer to follow the advice in the Institute of Paper Conservation’s leaflet
